PM Sharif invites Bangladesh’s Dr Muhammad Yunus to visit Pakistan – HUM News


WEB DESK: On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Bangladesh Chief Advisor Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday, exchanging festival’s greetings and discussing enhanced cooperation between the two countries. PM Sharif took the opportunity to personally invited Dr Yunus to visit Pakistan.

According to a PM Office statement, both leaders agreed to boost trade and travel relations and restore institutional mechanisms to strengthen bilateral ties. PM Sharif stressed on a cultural exchange and extended invitation to a possible troupe including famous artist Runa Laila to also visit Pakistan.

Bangladesh and Pakistan resume direct trade after more than 50 years

The discussion also hinted towards a possibility of a visit to Dhaka by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister while a trade delegation from Pakistan’s side would visit Bangladesh in April.

The discussion highlighted efforts to build on historical ties while exploring new avenues of cooperation. Since the departure of Sheikh Hasina from the government in July, a thaw in relations between the country has been witnessed which has coincided since PM Sharif assumed office.
