KARACHI: After the resumption of flights to Europe, the first flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will take off for Paris tomorrow (Friday) from Islamabad International Airport.

The European Union authorities lifted a four-year ban on the carrier last year in December.

According to PIA spokesperson, initially two flights will be operating in a week, Friday and Sunday, after which it will be gradually increased.

The flight will take off from Islamabad at 11:30 am and will reach Paris at 4:00 pm.

Flight from Paris will depart at 6:00 pm and will arrive in Islamabad at 5:00 pm, the spokesperson said.

Passengers will enjoy breakfast in Pakistan and eat lunch in Paris, the spokesperson stated.

PIA was barred from flying to the EU in June 2020, a month after a tragic crash in Karachi claimed nearly 100 lives.

The accident was attributed to human error involving the pilots and air traffic control. This was followed by allegations that almost one-third of the airline’s pilot licenses were fake or questionable.

The airline also remains banned from operating in the United States.
