LAHORE: A man who set himself on fire pursuing a job termination case in the Lahore High Court succumbed to injuries at Mayo Hospital.
The victim was identified as Asif Javed.
The Mayo Hospital administration has confirmed the death of the petitioner who set himself on fire on the premises of the LHC.
According to the hospital administration, 80 per cent of Asif Javed’s body had sustained burns.
The 40-year-old remained under treatment at Mayo Hospital for three days.
The incident stems from a long-running employment dispute. Javed was dismissed by a private company in 2016.

In 2019, the labour court declared his termination unlawful. However, in December 2020, the private company filed an appeal with the Lahore High Court.
Asif Javed’s case had been pending before the Lahore High Court since December 2020.
Following a hearing at the LHC, the petitioner doused himself in petrol and set himself on fire within the court premises.
