PESCO cuts power to govt offices in FATA Secretariat over unpaid dues – HUM News

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has disconnected electricity to all government offices located in the FATA Secretariat due to non-payment of dues, severely disrupting official operations.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Department officials, the PESCO cut off power to the FATA Secretariat on Thursday. As a result, key departments such as the information department, livestock department, mines and minerals department, and the office of the director general health have been struggling to carry out their official duties.

Officials claimed that the information department had cleared all of its outstanding dues, but its power supply was still disconnected.

A PESCO spokesperson told HUM News English that the DG health office, located within the FATA Secretariat, owes PESCO Rs12 million in unpaid electricity bills. Despite multiple notices, the dues remained unpaid, he said.

The spokesperson said that power to the other departments was cut due to a technical issue, which will be resolved and restored soon.
