PDMA warns of potential risk of glacial outburst floods – HUM News


WEB DESK: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Khyber Pukhtunkhwa has warned of a potential risk of glacial outburst floods in northern regions due to rising temperatures.

In an alert issued to district administrations in Chitral, Dir, Swat, and other areas, the PDMA stated that a significant rise in temperature from tomorrow could lead to possible flooding. Authorities have been urged to take preemptive measures to deal with any disastrous situation.

Artificial glaciers boost water supply in northern Pakistan

Local populations in vulnerable areas are to be alerted immediately, and emergency services and rescue personnel have been directed to remain on high alert. The PDMA also instructed that emergency supplies and available resources be kept ready in advance.

Tourists have been advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel.
