LAHORE/KARACHI: Severe fog and adverse weather have caused major disruptions to both train and air operations, prompting stranded passengers to protest over delayed schedules.

According to media reports, dense fog in Punjab has impacted train arrivals and departures as far as Karachi.

The Khyber Mail, scheduled to depart from Karachi at 10:15 p.m., left seven hours late at 5 a.m. Meanwhile, the Sukkur Express has yet to depart, leaving passengers frustrated.

The situation at Karachi Cantt Station also turned tense as passengers affected by prolonged delays and lack of information lodged a strong protest.

Many travelers complained about poor station conditions, including inadequate seating and excessive mosquitoes.

They also expressed frustration over the railway administration’s refusal to issue refunds or honor tickets for alternative schedules.

Flight delays have also impacted national and private airlines. PIA’s flights between Karachi and Lahore (PK 302 and PK 303) were grounded due to weather.

Airblue’s Karachi-Lahore flights, PA 401 and 405, and PIA’s Karachi-Islamabad flights, PK 301 and 308, faced similar delays.

A Serene Air flight (ER 503) from Karachi to Islamabad was also unable to take off due to poor visibility.

Passengers are advised to monitor updates from transport authorities as operations continue to be affected by winter weather.
