WEB DESK: Commemorating its silver jubilee since the launch in 2000, the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) launched the first ‘dematerialised’ ID card. This will have immense ease for citizens because they would no longer need to carry the physical card because it would be integrated into the Pak ID mobile application.
Under the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), which is being funded by World Bank, digital verification systems will soon be implemented to facilitate authentication for various services. The pilot project for DEEP is set to be launched on August 14, 2025.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Nadra for its role in providing a legal identity to citizens, reinforcing the social contract between the state and the people, and enhancing public service delivery.
