Pakistan’s delegation lands in Azerbaijan to participate in COP29 – HUM News


BAKU: A delegation led by Coordinator to Prime Minister for Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, arrived in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, to participate in COP29.

The delegation includes Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change Atiq Ur Rahman, senior officials, researchers, scientists and other climate experts.

Pakistan will highlight mitigation and adaptation measures being taken in the country for climate adaptation and environmental stability, Alam said, adding “Pakistan will try to find new opportunities for cooperation with regional and global partners”.

The current government’s ongoing measures to combat climate risks will be highlighted in this global climate conference, Coordinator to the PM said. She will also hold meetings with delegations from various countries to advance the agenda of environment finance for developing countries.

Prime Minsiter Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to arrive at COP29 and present Pakistan’s view point on climate impact. Pakistan’s PM will also strive to increase cooperation with the affected countries under the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM).
