The statement highlighted the loss of innocent lives, including women, children and the elderly, resulting from the conflict in May.
In retaliation, Pakistan initiated Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, described as a “measured, resolute, and precise military” response aimed at re-establishing deterrence while minimising civilian harm.
Amid heightened tensions, the government commented the Republican US President for demonstrating “great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship” through his diplomatic engagement with both, Islamabad and New Delhi.
The intervention is credited with facilitating a ceasefire on May 10 between two nuclear-armed states.
The Pakistani administration acknowledged Trump’s previous offers to mediate the long-standing Kashmir dispute; stating that the issue remains central to regional stability.
It went on to say that “durable peace in South Asia would remain elusive” without the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Jammu and Kashmir.
The statement further praised Trump’s leadership during the 2025 crisis as a continuation of his legacy of ‘pragmatic’ diplomacy and effective peace-building.
It expressed hope that his diplomatic efforts would contribute to broader regional and global stability, particularly in light of ongoing crisis in the Middle East; the situation in Gaza and escalating tensions involving Iran.

While Trump has repeatedly stated that the ceasefire was achieved through US mediation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has maintained that the disagreement resulted from direct talks between the Indian and Pakistani militaries.
Pakistan formally nominating the controversial Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize certainly raised more than a few eyebrows, with many reacting in bemusement to the government’s tweet.
