ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has expressed grave concern over the seriousness of the security situation in the region. In a statement, the ministry condemned violations of the principles of state sovereignty and regional integrity.
Pakistan has called for respect for international laws and urged all parties to exercise restraint. The Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan emphasised the importance of prioritising dialogue and diplomacy to resolve issues peacefully.
The spokesperson further stated that immediate steps should be taken to de-escalate tensions in the region. Pakistan remains committed to the peaceful resolution of all disputes, deeming it essential for maintaining regional peace and stability.
PM Shehbaz expresses solidarity with Qatar’s Emir
The FO also appealed to all parties to demonstrate patience and restraint during these critical times.
Following Iran’s strikes in Qatar yesterday night, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met with Qatari Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater on Tuesday, assuring him complete support and showing solidarity with the Emir and people of Qatar.
During the meeting with the Qatari ambassador, the PM conveyed his prayers for the safety and security of Qatari brothers and sisters, as well as the entire region. He emphasised that Pakistan has always advocated for dialogue and diplomacy to ensure peace in the Middle East. PM Sharif also held a meeting with the Saudi Arabia ambassador to discuss the ongoing developments in the region.
On Monday evening, Iran attacked Al Udeid Air Base, a large US military installation in Qatar, firing a fusillade of missiles at the site.
