ISLAMABAD: The Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Belarussian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov agreed to strengthen cooperation on counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, border security, and police training during the latter’s visit to Pakistan.
The two ministers met at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad. They discussed bilateral relations and finalised an extradition agreement between the two countries, singing protocol for its implementation.

Both sides agreed to establish a joint working group to oversee cooperation efforts. This group will facilitate ongoing dialogue and coordination on security matters.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on anti-narcotics cooperation was also agreed upon, and a police training exchange programme will be initiated to share expertise.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that Pakistan was committed to improving relations with Belarus across various fields. He welcomed the signing of a separate MoU between the Belarussian government and Pakistan’s Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis.
This agreement aims to facilitate employment opportunities with thousands of Pakistani workers expected to move to Belarus.
Naqvi mentioned that only the best candidates would be sent following thorough screening.
The Belarussian Interior Minister expressed his desire to expand cooperation with Pakistan in all areas and extended a formal invitation to the Pakistan Interior Minister to visit Belarus.
He described Pakistanis as “hardworking” and praised the warm hospitality shown by the Pakistani government and the Ministry of Interior.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Pakistani Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Secretary Interior, Special Secretary and Additional Secretaries.

The Commandant of the National Police Academy, Director General of the National Counter-Crime and Intelligence Agency, and the Director of the Anti-Narcotics Force also attended the meeting.
