Pakistan beat India; bag 7 medals at Asian Junior Squash Championship – HUM News


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s young squash players put on an impressive show at the 32nd Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships 2025 in South Korea, clinching a total of seven medals across various categories, including golds in both the main event and plate divisions.

In the boys’ under-13 final, Sohail Adnan defeated India’s Ayaan Dhanuka to secure the gold medal, while Lahore’s Nauman Khan claimed the under-15 title after a thrilling all-Pakistan final against teammate Ahmed Rayyan Khalil.

Overall, Pakistan won two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal in the main championship.

The country’s dominance extended to the plate division as well, where national players won two additional titles.

The strong performance signals Pakistan’s resurgence in the sport, once a hallmark of national pride, as a new generation of players continues to shine on the international stage.

PM praises squash champs

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the young athletes for their stellar performance, calling them “a source of pride for the nation.”

In a statement, the premier lauded Nauman Khan for winning gold in the under-15 category, Sohail Adnan for his gold in under-13, and also acknowledged silver medallists Ahmed Rayyan Khalil and Mahnoor Ali in the under-15 boys and under-13 girls categories, respectively.

“Winning seven medals in the finals of the Asian Junior Squash Championship is a tremendous achievement. The entire nation is proud of you. May your streak of success continue.”
