He said that Sheikha Asma’s achievement sends a powerful message of courage and determination, and stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Qatar.
Asma Al Thani recently summited Nanga Parbat, becoming the first Qatari woman to conquer the treacherous 8,126-metre-high peak located in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region.

Known globally as the “Killer Mountain,” Nanga Parbat is one of the world’s most dangerous climbs due to its severe weather conditions and unforgiving terrain.
This was her ninth successful ascent in her ongoing mission to summit all 14 of the world’s eight-thousanders – mountains exceeding 8,000 metres.
“My ninth 8000er and one of the toughest climbs I’ve faced. This mountain tested me in ways I didn’t expect, from black ice beneath my feet to rockfall every few seconds. A constant reminder of how fragile life truly is,” Al Thani said in a social media post.
But even in that danger, she said, there was growth, surrender, and strength she didn’t know she still had. “I climb not just to reach summits but to return to what matters, to strip away the noise and reconnect with myself. This mountain will stay with me forever,” she added.
Sheikha Asma Al Thani is a record-setting Qatari athlete and a champion of women’s empowerment in the Arab World and beyond. She inspires women to pursue their passions and break barriers.
An adventurer at heart and a humanitarian by nature, she has consistently used her expeditions for philanthropy.
In 2014, she was among the first Qatari women to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, raising QAR 2 million for Gaza.
Her pioneering spirit also led her to become the first Qatari to ski to the North Pole’s last degree and the first Qatari woman to reach Mount Vinson in the South Pole in December 2021.
