WEB DESK: As the repatriation of Afghan continues another batch of 5,677 individuals returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border on Wednesday.
According to the latest official figures the group included 2,547 holders of Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) and 3,130 undocumented immigrants.
The latest phase of repatriations that started towards the beginning of April has now seen 8,115 ACC holders return through Torkham. Since the broader repatriation campaign began in September 2023, a total of 491,317 undocumented Afghans have crossed back into Afghanistan.

Breakdowns provided by authorities have shown that since April 1, the majority of ACC holders (6,706) have returned from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, followed by 4,931 from Punjab, 1,573 from Islamabad, and one from Gilgit-Baltistan. Among undocumented returnees, Punjab accounted for 6,115, followed by 1,573 from Islamabad, 44 from Sindh, 38 from Azad Kashmir, and one from Gilgit-Baltistan.
The authorities temporarily housed 105 Afghan migrants at Peshawar’s transit point, including 20 men, 24 women and 61 children who had arrived from Sialkot and Rawalpindi. They are expected to complete their documentation process before crossing into Afghanistan via Torkham on Thursday.
The repatriation process continues as part of Pakistan’s ongoing effort to regulate foreign nationals in the country, with daily movements carefully documented and processed through established border mechanisms.
