KARACHI: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed to the Sindh High Court (SHC) that it has rescinded the notification responsible for the X, formerly Twitter, platform’s suspension.
PTA made this statement during a recent hearing at the SHC, which addressed petitions challenging the suspension of social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, across Pakistan.

PTA’s lawyer, Saad Siddiqui, informed the court that the earlier directive to shut down X had been revoked. This led the court to question whether the platform’s access had been reinstated.
Petitioners’ lawyer Moeez Jafri noted that despite the withdrawal of the notification, users remain unable to access the social media platform.
The court emphasised that, with no active notification mandating the platform’s closure, it should be accessible.
Another PTA lawyer, present at the hearing, indicated a lack of information regarding the specifics of the notification’s withdrawal.

The court remarked on the confusion caused by assigning multiple lawyers to handle different aspects of the case, with inconsistencies in the information provided.
The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
