PESHAWAR: The much-anticipated new cabinet for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was officially sworn in today at a ceremony held at the Governor House in Peshawar.

The event, presided over by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, marks the beginning of a new political chapter under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
The newly-formed cabinet consists of 10 ministers, two advisors, and a special assistant, reflecting a broad spectrum of political representation from across the province. The appointments bring together both seasoned political figures and fresh faces from various regions of KP.
This new team, selected through extensive consultations between Chief Minister Afridi and Governor Kundi, is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the provincial government. Afridi, who has promised to prioritise stability and governance, reiterated that the cabinet’s formation would be done in phases, with this first lineup setting the foundation for future expansions.

Afridi, in a statement earlier this week, hinted that the first phase of the cabinet would be focused on streamlining governance and addressing key issues. The involvement of well-established leaders combined with the inclusion of younger and newer faces is expected to bring both continuity and fresh perspectives to the province’s political landscape.
While the current cabinet is relatively small, with more than 10 ministers, it is expected that additional positions will be filled as the government’s priorities evolve. The first phase of appointments is geared toward achieving a balance between experience and new energy, as the provincial government tackles pressing challenges in the coming months.

The swearing-in ceremony at the Governor House was attended by senior government officials, political leaders, and members of the public.
