ISLAMABAD: Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday took notice of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Iqbal Afridi’s remarks about a female officer’s dressing and has established a committee to investigate the matter.

An investigative committee has been formed, led by Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazir Tarar. The committee will include Naweed Qamar, Amin Haq, Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri. It is also authorised to include five female members from parliamentary parties. The committee is expected to submit its report to the Speaker within 15 days.

Iqbal Afridi stirred a debate during a National Assembly Standing Committee on Power meeting when he raised objections over the dressing of a female participant.
During the Standing Committee on Power meeting, PTI MNA Iqbal Afridi objected to the attire of a woman present, specifically a female representative from K-Electric. Afridi argued that her outfit was inappropriate for the meeting and proposed that standard operating procedures (SOPs) should be established to govern women’s clothing at such events.
