MURREE: Murree Expressway has been partially closed due to massive landslides, while the authorities have advised tourists to refrain from visiting the hill station till the roads are cleared.
According to the district administration, more parts of the Expressway are at risk of further landslides. However, traffic on other sections of the road remains smooth.
Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said that rescue operations are underway at the site.
He added that recent rains have increased the frequency of landslides but assured that the Expressway will be fully reopened for traffic soon.

The DC urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and cooperate with the administration.
He stressed that public safety is the top priority and all available resources are being utilised to ensure it.

Meanwhile, schools in Murree have been closed for two days following heavy rains and landslides. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that 74 mm of rain has already been recorded, with more downpours expected in the coming days. Authorities remain on high alert to ensure public safety.
Officials said the closure of schools is a precautionary measure to prevent disruptions and emergencies caused by possible landslides and unstable terrain, particularly in the hilly areas of Murree.
The local administration is carrying out inspections of vulnerable spots and coordinating with emergency services to ensure a quick response in case of any incidents.
Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, remain indoors during heavy rainfall, and promptly report any signs of landslides or flooding to the PDMA for timely action.
