Motorway police issues travel advisory amid increased post-Eid traffic  – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: With the surge in traffic on motorways and national highways following Eid, the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) has issued a travel advisory, urging motorists to take precautionary measures for a safe and smooth journey.

According to the NHMP spokesperson, travellers should check their vehicle’s engine oil, water levels, tyre pressure, and brakes before setting off.

Drivers are advised to wear seat belts, adhere to speed limits, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and follow lane discipline. Those undertaking long journeys should ensure they are well-rested before driving and take breaks every two to two-and-a-half hours to avoid fatigue. Driving while drowsy is strongly discouraged.

Passengers travelling in public transport can report overloading and overcharging to the Motorway Police helpline.

In anticipation of increased traffic, the police have deployed additional personnel and intensified patrolling. Road safety briefings are also being conducted at all toll plazas.

For assistance, travellers can contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.
