MARDAN: An Imam has been fatally stabbed after he allegedly slapped a madrassa student in Mardan district on Tuesday night.
As per media reports, the imam, originally from the Bajaur tribal region, was teaching religious classes to children in addition to leading prayers at a local mosque.
According to eyewitnesses, the cleric struck a student during class. The child later told his elder brother about the incident.

Enraged by the account, the brother reportedly went to the mosque armed with a knife and attacked the imam, stabbing him multiple times. The cleric died at the spot.
While local authorities have not yet issued a public statement, community leaders are urging swift justice and the implementation of reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future.
