Life-saving medicines disappear from markets amid price hike – HUM News


PESHAWAR: A critical shortage of life-saving medicines has gripped Peshawar as soaring drug prices have led to the disappearance of essential medical supplies, including insulin, from pharmacies across the city.

According to medical store owners, not only have prices of common and vital medicines sharply increased, but the overall supply has also dropped significantly. “Due to the rising costs, distributors are reluctant to supply in adequate quantities, creating a severe shortage,” one pharmacy attendant said.

Efforts are being made to obtain an official response from health authorities, but no statement had been issued by the time of reporting.

KP GOVERNOR VISITS CMH

In a related development, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi paid a visit to CMH Peshawar, where he met with the SHO and constable who were injured in the recent Bannu Frontier Corps Headquarters attack.

Governor Kundi praised the bravery of the security forces and police, stating, “Our security personnel fought valiantly against the Khawarij. The entire nation is proud of their sacrifices.” He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces and ensuring security in the region.

CHIEF SECRETARY VISITS BANNU

Yesterday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed and Commandant FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Rayan Nazir paid an emergency visit to Bannu. They attended the funerals of the personnel who were martyred in the FC line attack and paid tribute to the martyrs.

The chief secretary said that the nation will never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs and every drop of their blood will be accounted for. Later, the Chief Secretary, IG and Commandant FC visited the injured personnel undergoing treatment at CMH Bannu. They inquired about the well-being of the injured and directed the doctors not to leave any slack in their treatment.

A detailed briefing was given by the district administration on the current security situation in Bannu division, especially Bannu, and the overall situation. Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah said that the provincial government would extend full sympathy to the families of the martyrs and injured personnel and provide them with all possible help. He assured the heirs that the sacrifices of their loved ones would not go in vain and all resources would be utilised to root out the scourge of terrorism.
