LHC and IHC Bar Association Elections underway


WEB DESK: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and Islamabad High Court Bar Association’s (IHCBA) annual elections are being held today in the respective cities.

The polling for the Islamabad High Court Bar Association’s (IHCBA) annual elections began at 8:30 AM and will continue until 4:30 PM at the District Court Complex. Around 2,685 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots.

The presidential race would be between between Abdul Waheed Qureshi and Syed Wajid Ali Shah Gilani, while Iftikhar Ahmed Bajwa and Raja Manzar Ali Kayani are vying for the vice president’s role. Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed Jajja and Qasim Nawaz Abbasi are competing for the secretary position, and Imran Ashfaq and Zahir Shah are in the running for joint secretary.

For the additional secretary position, Bushra Tariq Raja and Dr. Palwasha Ayaz Khan are the candidates, while Fazl Mola and Mohsin Ali Abbasi are contesting for finance secretary. Additionally, several candidates are competing for executive member positions.

To ensure a smooth and secure voting process, stringent security measures have been put in place at the District Court Complex. The elections are being closely monitored, with both bar associations witnessing significant participation from their members.

LHCBA

Seven candidates are competing for three pivotal positions, including the presidency in the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) elections. The race for the president’s seat has Saqib Akram Gondal from the Asma Jahangir Group and Asif Niswana from the Hamid Khan Group emerging as the top contenders.

For the secretary position, Farukh Ilyas Cheema and Qasim Ijaz Samra are in the running, while the vice president slot sees a three-way contest among Sheikh Haseeb bin Yousaf, Abdul Rehman Ranjha, and Abdul Razaq Chadhar. Meanwhile, Hama bin Shoaib Kamboh has been elected unopposed as the finance secretary, securing his position without opposition.
