PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has relaxed its austerity policy, allowing the Provincial Advisor on Finance to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank in Washington, DC at government expense.
According to official documents available with HUM News English, during a provincial cabinet meeting on October 9, the KP finance secretary presented the case, explaining that the IMF and World Bank meetings will take place from October 21 to October 26 in Washington, DC.
He said that the Chief Minister’s Advisor on Finance Muzamil Aslam will represent the province at these meetings, which is a matter of honour for KP.
The finance secretary informed the provincial cabinet that the provincial government had previously imposed a complete ban on participation in foreign workshops and seminars using government funds, as part of the Austerity Policy 2024.
However, in this case, the provincial cabinet approved a relaxation of the policy, allowing the use of necessary funds and issuing the required NOC for foreign travel.

Chief Minister KP’s Advisor on Finance, Muzamil Aslam, confirmed to HUM News English that he had received an invitation to attend the IMF and World Bank meetings and he would be attending them as there is a significant gathering of donor organisations.
It is noteworthy that the event, scheduled from October 21 to October 26 in Washington, DC, will be attended by prominent figures, including economists and business leaders from around the world.
