HARIPUR: The Khanpur Dam administration has begun extensive efforts to secure the dam’s boundaries and put an end to illegal encroachments that have persisted for years.
According to officials, barbed wire is being installed around key sections of the dam, while heavy machinery is being used to fix poles at multiple points. The initiative is aimed at protecting government-owned land and preventing further unauthorised constructions within the dam’s limits.
In the first phase of the project, poles are being installed to support the barbed wire. Once the wiring process is completed, the entire perimeter of the dam will be fully sealed, officials said.
Sources informed that despite the new security measures, three designated entry and exit gates will be set up to ensure convenient access for visitors and tourists. Security personnel will be stationed at these points to maintain order and prevent any unauthorised movement.
Officials added that the initiative is essential for safeguarding the natural beauty and ecological balance of the area. Local residents have expressed support for the decision, saying it will not only help eliminate illegal occupations but also strengthen overall security around the dam.
