Karachi to sizzle at 39 degrees – HUM News

KARACHI: Karachi is expected to witness hot weather today (Tuesday) as the temperature could touch 39 degrees Celsius, the MET office said.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz stated that temperatures could rise further, possibly exceeding 39°C on Tuesday and Wednesday. “The average temperature in Karachi for October is 35.6°C, but during this partial heatwave, it may rise by 3°C above average,” he said.

Sarfaraz added that the lower humidity levels would prevent extreme conditions. “Humidity is expected to remain between 30 per cent and 40  per cent during the heatwave, which will help mitigate the situation.”

Currently, the temperature stands at 37°C, with sea breezes partially suspended and humidity levels at 69 per cent.

The city’s air quality has deteriorated, placing Karachi as the fifth most polluted city in the world, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI).

The Early Warning Center of the PMD had earlier issued an advisory that the northwestern desert winds from Balochistan would start affecting the city from Monday, causing the maximum temperature to rise.

Due to higher humidity levels, the heat may feel more intense than the actual temperature.
