KARACHI: Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting more than 100 underage girls in Karachi.
The suspect, identified as Shabbir Ahmed, had been posing as a street vendor selling sherbet to lure children, police officials confirmed on Friday.
According to investigators, the suspect targeted daughters of domestic workers and confessed to assaulting over 100 minors. Police further revealed that he also recorded videos of the abuse.
The case surfaced after a girl found a USB drive from the suspect’s house and handed it over to a local shopkeeper. The device reportedly contained disturbing video evidence. The shopkeeper, with the help of neighbourhood residents, caught the suspect and handed him over to the police.
During questioning, Shabbir Ahmed admitted that he kept a diary with the names of the victims and dates of the assaults.

Police are now investigating whether he was working alone or was part of a wider network involved in selling such content on the dark web.
Officials confirmed that four separate cases have been registered against the suspect following identification by four victims. Videos have also been recovered from his mobile phone, which have been taken into evidence.
A police spokesperson said, “This is a shocking case. We are examining all digital devices recovered from the suspect and expanding the investigation to see if more people are involved.”
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be shared once more victims come forward.
