ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Judge Islamabad Nasir Javed Rana on Friday issued a show-cause notice to the Islamabad Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (operations) over the withdrawal of security personnel from local courts.
The judge summoned the police officer in person to explain the reason behind the withdrawal of the security personnel.
The notice stated that the DIG should appear before the court and clarify why proceedings should not be initiated against him for repeated violations of directives issued by the competent authority.
Earlier in the day, security staff — including gunmen assigned to judges — were absent from duty at the Islamabad District Judicial Complex, drawing strong displeasure from the judge.

The court noted that during a visit by the Islamabad High Court chief justice in April, police officials had been explicitly instructed that security deployed at the District and Sessions Court, including personnel assigned to judicial officers, must not be withdrawn. Officials were also formally notified in this regard.

Despite those directives, the show-cause notice said, Islamabad police withdrew security from the district judiciary and removed guards attached to judges, in violation of court orders and routine practice.
The judge has now directed the DIG (security) to explain the reasons for the withdrawal.
Efforts were made to obtain a response from Islamabad police spokesperson, but none was received till the filing of this report
