ISLAMABAD: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has summoned Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, and opposition leader Omar Ayub over alleged involvement in negative propaganda on social media.
Sources say Aleema Khan has been asked to appear today, while Omar Ayub has been served a notice for tomorrow. The JIT reportedly holds strong evidence against them.
Authorities have intensified action against those spreading propaganda online. Last week, 15 PTI leaders and 10 social media team members were also summoned.

The JIT was formed under notification F.No.8/9/2024-FIA/ per Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016. Led by the Islamabad IG, it is investigating individuals accused of anti-Pakistan rhetoric and baseless social media claims.
Its goal is to identify culprits and ensure legal action. Last year, the federal government set up a five-member JIT to probe a coordinated anti-state social media campaign deemed harmful to national interests.
The JIT includes Islamabad’s police chief as convener, senior FIA officials, the cybercrime and counterterrorism directors, the DIG (investigation), and the SSP (Counter Terrorism Department).
