ISLAMABAD: Islamic Ideology Council Chairman Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi announced Thursday the minimum amount for Fidya and Fitrana 2025, setting it at Rs220 per person.
Fitrana, also known as Zakat al-Fitr, is a charitable donation of food or its value Muslims make at the end of Ramadan. It’s a compulsory donation for those who have enough wealth or food to spare to make before the Eidul Fitr prayers.
Similarly, Fidya is also a donation provided to needy as a compensation for missed fasts.
According to a council’s press release, the Fitrana amount for current year varies based on different commodities: Rs220 based on wheat, Rs450 for barley, Rs1,650 for dates, Rs2,500 for raisins, and Rs5,000 for dried apricots or figs.
Dr Naeemi urged affluent individuals to pay Fitrana according to their financial capacity instead of relying solely on the wheat-based rate to ensure maximum support for the underprivileged. He also emphasised that Fitrana is obligatory for every Muslim, whether free or enslaved, male or female, young or old.

Residents of provinces other than Punjab are advised to calculate Fitrana based on local commodity prices. The prescribed weight for wheat is half a sa’a (approximately 2 kg), while for barley, dates, and raisins, it is one sa’a (about 4 kg).
The Fidya for 30 day fasts is set at Rs2,600 based on wheat, Rs13,500 for barley, Rs49,500 for dates, Rs75,000 for raisins, and Rs50,000 for dried apricots or figs.
Dr Naeemi said those who deliberately break a fast must either observe 60 consecutive fasts or feed 60 needy individuals.
He also noted that those using subsidised government flour may pay a reduced Fitrana of Rs60.
