Internet slowdown due to issues with submarine cables: PTA – HUM News

In a recent statement, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that internet speed across the country has been impacted due to issues with two key submarine cables. These cables, which are crucial for international connectivity, have experienced significant disruptions.

The AAE-1 cable, which facilitates connectivity between Iran and Qatar, is facing a 250 Gbps outage due to rerouting. Meanwhile, the SMW4 cable, located near Karachi, has suffered a malfunction.

To mitigate the effects of these disruptions, operators are actively rerouting internet traffic through other available cables. The PTA has assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and is working with relevant teams to address the technical problems.

The PTA has promised to keep users informed about further developments and updates on the restoration of normal internet speeds.
