Indian envoy summoned over unprovoked strikes – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad to lodge a strong protest against unprovoked Indian strikes that killed 26 civilians across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The Foreign Office condemned the attacks, calling them a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. Officials said the strikes defy the UN Charter, international law, and accepted diplomatic norms between states.

Islamabad rejected New Delhi’s claims justifying the strikes, terming them baseless. The Indian envoy was warned that such reckless actions endanger regional peace and could escalate tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Earlier, the Foreign Office had released a statement labelling the Indian strikes a “flagrant breach” of international law and inter-state protocols.

Pakistan reaffirmed its right to respond “at a time and place of its choosing” in line with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The FO said the Indian aggression resulted in the martyrdom of innocent civilians, including women and children. It added that India’s irresponsible behaviour had pushed the two countries closer to serious conflict.

The statement concluded by stressing that Pakistan’s government, armed forces, and people stand united in defence of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
