Imran Khan’s politics of inciting violence will not last: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is spreading propaganda. He said that the PTI’s violence-inciting politics will soon come to an end.

Sharing his thoughts on Army Chief General Asim Munir’s official visit to the United Kingdom, the federal minister said, “Army Chief was presented with a guard of honor in the UK. Pakistan and the UK have historical relations.”

PTI’s anti-army chief protest in UK turns into a flop show

Alluding to the protest call given by the PTI leadership, for its supporters in the UK, Khawaja Asif said, “A large population of Pakistan lives in the UK.” He did not share any details, but news reports suggest that PTI’s protest call for UK turned out to be a failure.

“PTI is spreading propaganda,” Khawaja Asif said, adding, “Imran Khan wanted to make [former ISI chief] Faiz Hameed the Army Chief.” He said that PTI spread chaos on May 9 and November 26. “No [political] party in the world has the same attitude as PTI.”

The Defense Minister further said that things in the country are stabilising, “so PTI’s resentment is increasing. International organisations are praising Pakistan’s economy. [Imran Khan] tried to sabotage the economy by writing a letter to the IMF. He spread propaganda that the country will default.”

Khawaja Asif said that PTI is lobbying in the United States and spending money for it. “[At the same time] they are writing letters and begging. Imran Khan is writing letters and begging from jail,” he said.

The federal minister shared that Pakistan’s economy is stabilising and the government is continuing its journey successfully. “No conspiracy can harm Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif had differences with the establishment. His government was overthrown but he did not take the path against Pakistan,” Asif said about his party’s supremo.

He said that the Pakistan Army is currently making unprecedented sacrifices, the judiciary has been freed through a process and that things will improve further in a few months.

He said that the relevance of PTI will also go down because of their brand of violence-inciting politics.
