Imran Khan ‘happy’ with PTI protests, wants next round on Aug 14 – HUM News

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has announced a new plan for countrywide protests on August 14, while urging his party leadership and supporters not to fear arrests or pressure tactics.

This was revealed by Khan’s sister Aleema Khan while talking to the media outside Adiala Jail on Wednesday.

She said that the jailed former prime minister sent a stern message to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and the provincial government, warning them to reconsider their positions if they are unable to stop the ongoing crackdown against PTI workers.

According to Aleema, Imran Khan said the continued targeting of party workers was part of a campaign to spread hatred against PTI, and called for these issues to be resolved through local jirgas.

She also confirmed that Khan was finally able to meet his wife, Bushra Bibi, and sister Uzma Khan inside jail, and expressed gratitude for the reunion.

Imran Khan ‘happy with PTI Aug 5 protests

Aleema and Advocated Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, who also met Imran Khan in jail, said that Imran Khan expressed happiness on the PTI August 5 protests. “Imran Khan noted that despite state oppression, injustice, and pressure, the people once again took to the streets – a development he described as encouraging,” said Aleema Khan.

“The level of cruelty we’re witnessing today is unprecedented,” Khan was quoted as saying, adding that the rule of law has vanished in the country, and media freedoms are being crushed. “But sacrifices will have to be made for freedom,” he said.

Advocate Chaudhry said Imran Khan praised the public’s turnout in PTI protests across Pakistn, saying the people had “broken the wall of fear” and stepped out for the first time since November 26.

‘One-sided jail trial halted’

Advocate Chaudhry said today’s meeting with Imran was made possible after Barrister Salman Safdar managed to halt the court proceedings for nearly three hours, citing concerns over the one-sided nature of the jail trial.

Court resumed the jail trial in Toshakhana-II today, and subsequently allowed Imran Khan’s legal team and his sisters to meet him. It also directed that lawyer Salman Akram Raja be granted access to Imran Khan in future hearings for legal consultations.

Chaudhry added that Khan’s access to television and books had also been revoked, which was brought to the court’s attention. The judge ordered a list of books to be submitted and approved their provision.

Khalid Chaudhry said he also met Imran Khan’s wife and former first lady, Bushra Bibi.

He claimed she said, “It is only Allah who has kept us standing, and we shall remain firm.” She lamented that her daughters had not been allowed to meet her, and that their appointed lawyer, Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry, had also been denied access.

The lawyer also said that Imran Khan congratulated the leadership of the Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) for holding a successful all-parties conference with 32 political parties in attendance.

At the end of his X post, Chaudhry lauded Barrister Salman Safdar’s legal strategy, which he said had led to the partial resumption of family and lawyer visits, and hoped for full restoration in the coming days.
