Imran Khan breaks silence on Bushra Bibi’s ‘Saudi’ remarks – HUM News

RAWALPINDI: Imran Khan has joined the growing list of individuals responding to former first lady Bushra Bibi’s controversial remarks about Saudi Arabia, made in a recent video message.

In a statement posted to his official X account on Friday, Imran Khan clarified that Bushra, as his wife, was merely conveying his message about the November 24 protest to the public.

On Thursday, Bushra Bibi, while referring to an alleged incident in Saudi Arabia, claimed in her video message that when Imran Khan returned home after walking barefoot in the holy city, General Bajwa began receiving disapproving calls. She said Bajwa was told, “Who have you brought? We don’t want such individuals … you have brought someone advocating for [Sharia].”

However, Khan disagreed with the interpretation of her statement, insisting that she had done no wrong. He said, “Bushra Bibi’s statement was deliberately taken out of context to draw our brotherly country, Saudi Arabia, into an unnecessary controversy.”

Khan further emphasised that Bushra had no involvement in politics, stating, “She didn’t mention Saudi Arabia at all.”

The PTI founder also repeated his call for supporters to attend the November 24 protest, urging them to “break free from slavery.”

Further responding to the controversy surrounding Bushra Bibi’s remarks, Imran Khan said, “I have excellent relations with Saudi Arabia. When I was attacked in Wazirabad, one of the first calls I received, through the embassy, was from HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Saudi Arabia has always stood by us in difficult times.”

He also recalled a significant event just two weeks before his government was toppled, saying, “We held a very successful OIC foreign ministers’ conference in Islamabad, which would have been impossible to organise without Saudi Arabia’s support.”

Imran Khan also dismissed any suggestion of external factors being involved in his ousting from government, stating, “My government was toppled through conspiracies, all orchestrated by General Bajwa. I attempted to have these investigated through the Chief Justice and General Tariq Khan, but General Bajwa prevented that from happening.”
