ICC, ACC meetings set for November; PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi likely to skip – HUM News

LAHORE: The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) quarterly conference is scheduled to be held in the first week of November, sources confirmed. The meetings will run from November 4 to 7 and are expected to cover several key agenda items, including discussions on the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, and the future of Test cricket.

According to sources, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is unlikely to attend the ICC conference. Instead, PCB Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sameer Ahmed is expected to represent Pakistan at the meetings.

Meanwhile, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is also expected to hold its session in the first week of November, where discussions are likely to focus on administrative matters related to the Asia Cup 2025.

Sources further revealed that the ACC meeting may also address the Indian cricket team’s recent conduct, including its refusal to receive the trophy from the ACC president and its alleged violations of the spirit of cricket during all three Asia Cup matches, where Indian players reportedly avoided customary handshakes with members of the Pakistan team.

Both meetings are expected to play a crucial role in shaping upcoming international cricket tournaments and regional relations among cricketing boards.

Varun Chakaravarthy takes a jab at Naqvi

In a recent episode of Breakfast With Champions, Indian spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has joined the growing debate surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 trophy controversy involving Pakistan Cricket Board and Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Following India’s victory over Pakistan in the final, Naqvi allegedly took the trophy back to his hotel instead of presenting it to the Indian team — an act that drew heavy criticism from fans and former players. Chakaravarthy made a remark that many saw as a subtle jab at Naqvi. “Cup cheen sakte hain, but we are champions,” he said, implying that while the trophy might have been withheld, India’s triumph remains undisputed. His comment quickly went viral, celebrated by fans as a confident yet humorous response to the controversy.

Adding to the moment, Chakaravarthy posted an Instagram story showing himself sleeping beside a coffee cup, a parody of Lionel Messi’s famous photo with the FIFA World Cup trophy. The spinner’s remarks and viral post have reignited discussions about sportsmanship and accountability within the Asian Cricket Council especially sportsman spirit.
