ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert about more heavy monsoon rains across the country from today (Monday) to September 5 (Thursday), saying the downpour could flood low-lying and urban areas, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The National Emergencies Operations Centre said that different regions would be affected during the period. According to it, moderate rainfall is expected in northeastern Punjab, while light rain is likely to fall in Pothohar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawal-pindi, and Islamabad.
While according to the Met office moist current from Bay of Bengal are likely to penetrate upper parts from Monday leading to heavy monsoon rains.
A westerly wave is also likely to approach western parts of the country on Monday evening. Under the influence of this weather system:

Rain-wind/thundershower (with isolated heavyfalls) are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan on 02nd & 03rd September.
Punjab/Islamabad
Rain-wind/thundershower (with isolated heavyfalls) are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur and Bhakkar, on 02nd & 03rd September. Rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Layyah, Rajanpur and Rahimyar Khan on 03rd & 04th September with occasional gaps.
Kashmir
Rain-wind/thundershower (with isolated heavyfalls) are expected in Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur) from 02nd (night) to 03rd September.
Gilgit-Baltistan
Rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, Shigar) on 02nd & 03rd September.
Balochistan
Rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Sibi, Harnai, Ziarat, Kohlu, Barkhan, Loralai, Sherani, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Khuzdar, Kalat, Naseerabad, Awaran and Lasbella from 02nd to 04th September with occasional gaps.
Sindh
Rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Dadu, Jacobabad, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot and Sanghar on 03rd and 04th September with occasional gaps.
