PESHAWAR: At least four policemen were injured on Thursday when a roadside bomb exploded near a police van on Kohat Road in the Kamar Din Garhi area of Peshawar.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed said that the police vehicle was on routine patrol near Qamar Din Chowk when the improvised explosive device (IED) went off.

The blast damaged the police van and injured four personnel, who were shifted to a nearby hospital, he said. Police teams reached the site shortly after the incident. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

In August, two people were killed and at least 10 others, including two police officers, were injured in a bomb blast in the Wana tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lower South Waziristan district.

District Police Officer (DPO) Tahir Khan confirmed the casualties, stating that the blast occurred in the busy Wana Rustan bazar area.

According to police sources, the victims included two passersby who died on the spot, while several others sustained injuries in the explosion.

The injured were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment while security forces swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those responsible for the attack, the DPO added.
