ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has asked foreign diplomats to restrict their movement during Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a letter addressing all resident diplomatic missions, UN agencies, funds, and international organisations based in Islamabad said the government had instituted heightened security measures to ensure safety of incoming dignitaries and delegates as well as success of the SCO summit which will kick off in Islamabad from 15 October till 16 October.

The letter urged foreign diplomats to confine their movements to Red Zone and diplomatic enclave and follow the traffic plan issued by the traffic police during the SCO summit.
It said the missions may follow the daily traffic updates by Islamabad Traffic Police, which are shared through police’s various channels including social media handles.
“The ministry greatly appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all diplomatic missions in this matter and looks forward to their continued support in ensuring the success of this event”, the letter said.
The SCO, comprising India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, is an influential economic and security bloc that has emerged as one of the largest trans-regional international organisations.
