Five security personnel martyred in separate attacks – HUM News


DERA ISMAIL KHAN / SHANGLA: Five security personnel were martyred and several injured in two separate incidents the other day in Dera Ismail Khan and Shangla, according to the security officials.

In Dera Ismail Khan’s Zarkani area, an IED targeted a security forces’ vehicle, killing three personnel—Ashfaq, Mukhtiar Wali, and Arif—and injuring two others.

The injured were taken to CMH, while security forces launched search operations. KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the attack, terming it a conspiracy and calling for improved security measures.

In Shangla, militants attacked a police checkpoint in Chakesar with heavy weapons, killing ASI Muhammad Hassan and Constable Nisar Ahmed, and injuring three others.

According to Shangla District Police Off­icer (DPO) Imran Khan the militants carried out a coordinated attack on the remote checkpoint near the Indus River, using heavy weapons such as rocket shells and hand grenades. The retaliatory fire injured a militant, who escaped.

Funeral prayers for the martyrs were held with senior officials in attendance.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan praised the bravery of the personnel, and vowed to bring the attackers to justice.
