Acquittal pleas of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi rejected
The bench rejected a plea against the appointment of former chief justice Qazi Faez Isa as the Balochistan High Court (BHC) Chief Justice.
The plaintiff argued that the Supreme Court gave a verdict on Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s case after 40 years. So Justice Isa’s appointment could also be debated even if it’s an event that has already happened. “The appointment of Qazi Faez Isa was a violation of court decisions,” the plaintiff argued.
Justice Mazhar said that the bench is hearing the revision petition today. Justice Hilali said that this forum is not for political speeches or for backbiting.
Justice Aminuddin questioned the necessity of consultations with the chief minister in the case. The court also stressed that personal life of Justice Isa should not come under debate.
Justice Mandokhail said that the bench chief should refer the case to the Pakistan Bar Council. The Constitution Bench dismissed the review petition of petitioner’s lawyer Riyaz Hanif.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
The Constitution Bench also heard a case related to environmental pollution and asked the provinces to submit a report on the measures taken to eliminate environmental pollution within three weeks.
