FDE launches BS admission portal, wins praise from students, parents – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has rolled out a new BS admission portal that has been widely welcomed by students and parents as a long-awaited step to streamline the process.

The online system, designed for undergraduate programmes at FDE-run colleges, has already received hundreds of applications within days of its launch.

Applicants say it has replaced long queues, excessive paperwork and confusion with a transparent, user-friendly process.

“It was the first time we didn’t have to run from one campus to another. Everything was online, and it actually worked,” said a parent outside a federal college. Students said that the portal allowed them to apply to multiple institutions from home, saving both time and effort.

FDE officials said the initiative aims to promote equal access and transparency in admissions. “Every applicant now has the same opportunity, and the process is purely merit-based,” said an FDE representative.

The portal has also reduced the risk of human error and curbed the possibility of preferential treatment, issues that have long been associated with public sector admissions.

Officials said more features will be added gradually, based on user feedback, and discussions are underway to expand the system for other levels of education.

Observers believe the smooth rollout of the portal, unusual for a public sector digital project, could help restore trust in state-run educational institutions at a time when public confidence has been under strain.
