ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), which oversees schools and colleges in Islamabad, has announced winter vacations for educational institutions.
According to a notification issued by the FDE, all schools and colleges will remain closed from December 30, 2024 to January 8, 2025.
The notification said that academic activities will resume from January 9, 2025.
In an advisory for institutional heads, the FDE directed them to develop comprehensive plans to improve academic quality during the break.
Private educational institutions in Islamabad have already announced winter vacations in the federal capital.
Earlier, the Punjab Education Department announced a revamped schedule for winter vacations in schools across the province.

Under the revised schedule, all public and private educational institutes will start their winter break from December 23, 2024 till January 12, 2025. Classes will begin from January 13, 2025.
Previously, winter vacations in schools across Punjab were set to close from December 20 till January 10.
The change was intended to standardise winter break for students and educators across the country’s most populous province.
Winter vacations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Khyber Pakhtubkhwa (KP) government released its winter vacation timetable earlier.
Educational institutions in the province will be closed from December 22 till December 31.
Meanwhile, schools further north will observe a longer break, with winter vacations stretching from December 22, 2024 till February 28, 2025.
Balochistan winter vacations
Winter vacations in Balochistan have begun already, with schools, colleges and universities in colder regions, including Quetta remaining closed until February 28.
For warmer areas of the largest province, a shorter winter break of ten days has been scheduled from January 1 till January 10, 2025.
