RAWALPINDI: Modern electric buses would start running across every district of Punjab province, including Rawalpindi, by December, according to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
In this regard, a 100 state-of-the-art electric buses have been dispatched from Shanghai Seaport to Pakistan by ship and will arrive in Punjab within a few weeks, she said in a message on ‘X’.
In a special message to the people of Punjab, CM Maryam Nawaz announced that by December, modern electric buses would be running across every district of the province.
The fare will be only Rs20 so that ordinary citizens can enjoy comfortable and affordable travel.

In a post shared on ‘X’ the CM said, the buses are equipped with modern facilities, including air conditioning and climate control systems, while CCTV monitoring systems have been installed to protect women from harassment.
Maryam Nawaz added that these electric buses would not only help reduce environmental pollution but also provide citizens with comfortable and modern transport facilities. She assured that very soon, people in every district of Punjab would see this facility in action.

The buses are destined for “previously underserved districts of Punjab, including Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, areas that have long lacked a formal public transport system.”
Meanwhile Pakistan Railways is also planning to operate a train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while it has also unveiled an ambitious bullet train project between Lahore and Karachi, passing through various cities between the two provincial capitals.
