ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved its decision regarding Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) intra-party election case. A three-member bench, led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, presided over the hearing.

During the hearing, it was mentioned that JUI-F’s intra-party elections were held for a five-year term, and elections have already been conducted in regions like Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan, with provincial-level elections ongoing.

After the provincial elections, federal-level elections are planned. JUI-F’s lawyer had requested 60 days for the election process, but CEC Raja said that this was too long.

The CEC also warned that failing to hold the elections on time could lead to the party being de-notified, which will also mean losing its election symbol.

The JUI-F election at the federal level is set for September 29. The commission will decide whether to grant more time to complete the election process.
