RAWALPINDI: Chinese Premier Li Qiang held a key meeting with Pakistan’s military leadership during his visit to Pakistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Premier Li, accompanied by a high-level delegation, met with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Service Chiefs, the ISPR said.
During the meeting, the Chinese premier reaffirmed China’s commitment to further strengthening and expanding the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
The discussions covered issues related to defense cooperation and counter-terrorism efforts. Premier Li praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their role in combating terrorism and assured China’s full support and assistance in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts in this regard.
Earlier, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang congratulated the Pakistani nation and government on behalf of the Chinese government and people on the completion of Gwadar airport. He described it as a manifestation of the commitment of Chinese and Pakistani engineers and workers and thanked the Pakistani society for their support.
