ISLAMABAD: China attaches great importance to its trade relations with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), China’s Vice Minister of Commerce said.
He made these remarks during his address at the 23rd SCO Ministerial Council meeting that have begun in Islamabad today. The meetings are aimed to discuss measures to strengthen regional cooperation for expanding trade, fostering sustainable development and promoting connectivity among member countries.

The Vice Minister emphasised that the SCO serves as a vital platform for fostering trade and strengthening regional cooperation among member states.
China is actively involved in promoting regional relations within the SCO, the Vice Minister said, adding that his country is committed to pursuing development projects across the region. The Vice Minister underscored that China is utilising advanced technology as a key driver in these development initiatives, furthering its role in regional growth and collaboration.
SCO, which includes major regional players, continues to be a significant forum for China’s strategic economic and trade engagement, he said.

Earlier, an official announcement from the Ministry of Commerce said that the deliberations and the outcome of this ministerial meeting will be discussed and approved during the upcoming Council of Heads of Government meeting scheduled for October 15-16 in Islamabad.
