ISLAMABAD: Islamabad administration has failed to enforce chicken prices in markets as the sellers continue to charge exuberant rates despite reduction in wholesale price of chicken.
Speaking to HUM English, a vendor in G-8 markaz areas, said that yesterday he had bought a maund (approximately 40 kgs) of chicken for a total price of Rs20,800. Today he has brought the same amount of chicken for Rs19,400. A rough calculation brings the per kg price of chicken down from Rs520 yesterday to Rs485 today.
Heatwave alert: PDMA Punjab issues advisory
However, the daily rate list, as issued by Islamabad district administration showed the same price yesterday, as it does today, which is Rs495 per kilo. The vendors in the market are charging Rs5-Rs10 even above this rate.

While the federal government continues to highlight the notable reduction in inflation over the past few months, the trickle-down effect of the reduction in prices is not fully reaching the end-users.
