ISLAMABAD: As the government continues to harp upon reduced inflation, the prices of essential items continue to soar. On Sunday, chicken meat prices across country almost doubled.
In the federal capital Islamabad, chicken’s price shot up Rs430 per kg as compared to last week.the chicken meat price increased from Rs450 to Rs880 in a week’s time. Live chicken price per kg also increased from Rs285 to Rs460 in a week, and desi chicken was being sold for Rs900 per kg.
Likewise, in Punjab’s capital Lahore, the price of broiler chicken meat per kg has exceeded Rs700 as per latest reports. Broiler chicken meat price was fixed at Rs595 in the government price list. However, market reports show that the chicken meat is being sold for as high as Rs730 in Tollinton Market.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not spared either. HUM News has learnt that in Peshawar, chicken price increased by Rs70 in a week. While lower than Islamabad and Lahore, the price in Peshawar has also reached Rs510 per kg on the weekend. Live chicken was being sold at Rs440 per kg a week ago as per the official price list.
