Cambridge admits leak in three A‑Level exams, promises full marks – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: Cambridge International Education has admitted that parts of three A Level exam papers were leaked before their scheduled dates in Pakistan, but assured students and families that all candidates will still receive valid grades and will not be disadvantaged by the breaches.

In a message addressed to candidates and their families, Cambridge revealed that limited content from the following papers was shared prematurely:

  • AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12: one question leaked before the exam
  • AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 42: parts of two questions leaked
  • AS & A Level Computer Science Paper 22: part of one question leaked

However, Cambridge emphasised that there was no evidence suggesting full papers had been accessed.

It asserted that grades for the affected subjects will still be issued on August 12, 2025, as scheduled.

“We have disregarded some questions from each paper – we will award you full marks for these questions, Cambridge promised in its message.

The move is aimed at preventing any advantage for those who accessed leaked content while protecting the credibility of the qualification.

“Candidates will not be disadvantaged,” the board said, adding this approach may increase total marks, and we will factor this into our grading to maintain fairness.

Cambridge further confirmed that multiple malpractice investigations are ongoing and warned of serious consequences for anyone found guilty of breaching exam regulations. This may include disqualification for students and potential deregistration for schools.

Reaffirming its commitment to security, Cambridge said it conducts extensive planning before every exam series and will review arrangements ahead of future assessments.
