Brother of former JI senator gunned down by neighbor in Swabi – HUM News


SWABI: The elder brother of former senator of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (JI) Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, was shot dead in front of his house in Swabi.

According to the police, Shakeel Khan was shot in front of his house in Ahmed Khan Kali Sheikh Jana village of Swabi.

Swabi District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Azhar said that Shakeel Khan was killed by his neighbor’s firing. The accused first killed his father and when Shakeel Khan went to rescue him, the accused opened fire and killed him too.

Swabi DPO says that the accused is allegedly addicted to drugs and is not in a stable mental state.

In a statement issued on social media, former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan expressed deep sorrow and grief. He said that his elder brother Shakeel Ahmed Khan was martyred in front of his house in the village. The former senator said that his elder brother was very dear to him, and was like a father figure to him. He called the incident ‘worst atrocity’.

People from different walks of life have expressed their sorrow and grief over the murder of Mushtaq Ahmed Khan’s brother.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah reached out to Mushtaq Khan and condemned the murder of his brother.

CM Gandapur expresses condolences to former senator and prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and patience for the family. The brutal murder of Mushtaq Ahmed Khan’s brother Shakeel Khan is regrettable, Gandapur said, adding that the accused will be severely punished according to the law.

The funeral prayer of Shakeel Ahmed Khan will be held at 3 PM in his native village Ahmed Kali. Local police say that the suspect has not been caught yet, and search is underway.
